Gripsholms Slott, Mariefred

Please join us for a tour to the magnificent Gripsholms Slott at the shores of Lake Mälaren. Gripsholms Slott towers powerfully and fairy-tale-like over the idyllic small town of
Mariefred in Södermanland. Gripsholms Slott is filled with over four-hundred years of history. Here you will find the Swedish State's collection of portraits – featuring prominent Swedes from the days of Gustav Vasa to present day musician and composer Benny Andersson. We will meet at Valhallavägen 157, (T-Station Karlaplan-exit Tessinparken), where a chartered bus leaves at 9.30 am. As we arrive at Gripsholms slott, we will enjoy a guided tour through the palace and its’ theatre by our Society President, Professor
Wilhelm Engström. A short walk from the palace is the inn, Gripsholms Värdshus, where we will have lunch. This Inn is the oldest in Sweden and rests on the foundation of a monastery. The day will also include time for a walk through the idyllic small town of Mariefred before we head back to Stockholm where we expect to be in town around 5 pm. The cost for the excursion is 650:- for members, 700:- for non-members (plusgiro 3424-9), and includes chartered bus, guided tours, lunch and drinks.
